GLIFC Grant Opportunities

Native Producer Capacity and Investment FundNOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!

This grant opportunity is made possible through a private donation of $200,000 to the Great Lakes Intertribal Food Coalition to build capacity with Tribal producers through the Great Lakes Region who are working in partnership with the Tribal Elder Food Box Program.

This fund is only available for producers who are citizens of a Native American Tribe. Applicants will be required to provide proof of Tribal Enrollment or descendancy to be considered for this grant. Please keep in mind the application is a quick turnaround and a quote for the requested equipment/infrastructure will be required with your grant submission.

Timeline:

Round 1: The deadline for the first round of submissions of this grant is March 27, 2026. Round 1 is open only to independent tribal member owned farms and operations.

Round 2: The second round of submissions of this grant will be accepted from March 28 – May 8, 2026. Round 2 is open to Tribal Farms and independent tribal member owned farms and operations. If you are awarded funding in Round 1, you will be ineligible to apply in Round 2.

External Grant Opportunities

Federal funding: The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition has a guide to Federal Food and Farm Programs that include grant opportunities for farmers and organizations. These programs generally open grant applications annually, times vary depending on the program.

State funding: The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (WI DATCP), maintains a list of grant opportunities offered by the state.

Tribe-specific funding: various organizations offer funding specifically for Tribal Nations including the Native American Agriculture Fund and the First Nations Development Institute.
