Participants will learn about honeyberries, their production and management challenges, and also have an opportunity to taste some honeyberry value-added products. This is a rain or shine event and open to all. Please come prepared to walk on uneven ground.
The Wisconsin Schools of Grazing offer unique, hands-on educational experiences designed to empower graziers with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage pasture-based livestock systems. The programs combine classroom learning with practical fieldwork, ensuring participants leave with actionable insights tailored to their specific farming operations.
Interested in learning about wild rice harvesting? Join us at the Pokegama Bay Boat Launch in Superior from 3:00-4:30 PM to learn about harvest, parching, and winnowing wild rice. No registration or RSVP required.
Intertribal Harvest Gathering
September 24-26
Training Location: Wisconsin Dells
The Intertribal Harvest Gathering will be four days of hands-on activities, shared meals, and resource sharing designed to build a stronger intertribal food system. This event is hosted by the Ho-Chunk Nation Department of Agriculture, Great Lakes Intertribal Food Coalition, and other partners and will bring together Tribal communities, food producers, chefs, and artists for hands-on learning covering a range of topics on food harvesting, growing, cooking, and processing and traditional arts.

You are invited to join Ohe·láku for a traditional corn harvest, husking, braiding, and barter market. More information and RSVP on Facebook. Cultural protocolos include maintaining a good mind – free from substances, negative words, or political discord. Guests are encouraged to dress for outdoor conditions and may bring a favorite side dish or beverage to share.

In the series you will learn a helpful system for tracking and managing your expenses, the building blocks to develop a business plan, and how to access new sources of financing and capital.

Introduction to Growing Mushrooms

Are you interested in growing culinary mushrooms like cremini, oyster, or shiitake mushrooms? Speakers Joseph Schaar (Lac Vieux Desert Agricultural Holdings) and Tony Johnson (UW Extension Forestry) will introduce the basics of growing mushrooms indoors and outside in logs or buckets.
